Actors Shakespeare Company at NJCU Dear Friends of ASC: Despite the chill of today's wind, spring is just around the corner, and ASC has begun preparations for our flagship Shakespeare production for the season, Henry V. After just two nights of rehearsal I can tell you that I am very excited to be working on this play and on our ambitious and highly theatrical production. Next month, you’ll see just 12 intrepid actors take on over 40 roles as we, with the help of ‘your imaginary forces,’ turn our intimate West Side Theatre into the battlefield of Agincourt. Meanwhile, we are in the final push of our fund raising efforts for our 2008-2009 season and we need your help. Today’s economic woes are well known to all of us. Both the arts and higher education have been victims of the times, and ASC is feeling the pinch. Our Board of Advisors and Artistic Ensemble are working hard to head off the challenges that we will continue to face in the coming year. ASC has excellent strategies, dedicated people and an uncommon amount of heart. With that combination, I am certain that we will weather the storm, but it won’t be easy. I’ll be keeping you posted in coming months about our plans for next season and our financial strategies. Can you help us now as we finish up this season and look towards our 10th Anniversary? Your gift will help us to continue our main stage productions as well as support our educational programming, which has taken on new life under the leadership of David Tyson, our new Director of Education. Please send your tax deductible donation to: NJCU Foundation (for Actors Shakespeare Company) Colette Rice Or call 201-200-2390 to give by credit card. Finally, if you haven’t yet checked out ASC’s newly redesigned website and blog, please visit us at www.ascnj.org. Online giving is coming soon! As ever, I speak for the entire Board and Company when I say that your support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you in the theatre! Best regards, Colette Rice |
